Wow… I can’t believe they’re going to review all positions within the city. Mind you, I doubt they’ll actually make any changes.
I still can’t believe that no one has questioned the hiring of Shelly Culhane. This was a position that ‘supposedly’ had no decent candidates the first time around, (when Shelly had no experience), so they didn’t fill it and put her in the role for a six-month contract. After that they posted again, though I know of one excellent candidate that applied and didn’t even get an interview… guess what.. .Shelly got the job. Go figure. LOL
Of course, at the time of hiring her, they didn’t even have a boss for her… they then proceeded to hire her boss. Was she in on this? I know if I’m running the show, the top positions are filled before the lesser positions… as they would be in on the hiring of their subordinates.
A new question I have is ‘does the son of our new CFO/City Manager work for the city? I heard a rumour (from a city employee) that he is working there as a engineer in training. First argument I have is that we have a hiring freeze… second is that I don’t recall that position being posted… third is that nepotism is obvious.
Thanks for keeping an eye on things! Good to hear what’s going on behind the scenes, and get an alternative opinion on the proceedings.
Why do you think the employees voted in the union. Could it be because theyare scared shitless about their jobs. The mayor is running around the office telling everyone what to do, is that not scary enough. A person that has never run a business or any kind of enterprise suddenly proclaims to be an expert in the field!! What a joke!! Let the people manage the city and the mayor and council should be providing direction. What is our plan for the future…….we have none…..
You may well be correct. The role of a mayor is that of a figurehead for council. The role of council is to set policy and direction while management handles the daily operation. I knew we were in trouble as soon Judy spewed that she would be a full-time mayor… this city doesn’t need a full-time mayor, just a city manager that is more than an arm’s length from the mayor.
