Is it election time?

It looks like Mayor Judy is in campaign mode, putting forth a motion to reduce council wages by 5%.  Does she really think we will all buy into what she’s selling?  I suppose the popular political play is to get on the voter’s good side in the year prior to an election, hoping they forget all the crap you handed out previous to that, and maybe you’ll get re-elected anyway.

I know I won’t forget who was in on the motion to give all council a monthly fuel allowance.  I’m sure there are many out there that don’t even remember that.  I wish I had time to review all the council minutes from the beginning of Temiskaming Shores, but my job keeps me a little to busy at them moment.  I recall some councillors refused to take the allowance and it’s possible that it was removed totally by now, but that would only be because of the uproar from the people.  If some are still receiving it, then losing 5% will only be like losing that allowance.

I’m sure once the election is over it will be time to put the 5% back on and maybe a little more?  Then just take a little off again in 4 years…
